Artist Bio

As a child, I discovered the power of art through my trusty college-ruled notebook. Whether it was people, aliens, or robots, I could spend hours lost in my own world of creativity. This passion only grew as I aged, and I began to appreciate good design, skillful execution, and bold creativity even more. From the masterpieces of Hokusai's "36 Views of Mount Fuji" to the contemporary blending of pop culture and fine art by Takashi Murakami, I am constantly inspired by those who push the boundaries of what is possible in the art world.

Growing up in Albuquerque, New Mexico as the fourth child of a mixed-race family, I was immersed in the rich cultural traditions of my Japanese and Hispanic heritage. I am just as at ease eating a bowl of pozole at Christmas, as I am devouring a perfectly steamed bowl of rice at breakfast. This fusion of identities has heavily influenced my work, as I strive to merge the vibrant colors of my hometown with the minimalistic aesthetics of Japanese art. For me, creating art is not only a means of self-expression, but also a way to harmonize different elements of identity into a cohesive whole.

My current artistic style is characterized by smooth lines, meaningful colors, and minimal shapes. I aim for simplicity and impact in my pieces, creating a sense of calm that naturally complements any space in which they are displayed. The objects surrounding me in my workspace reflect this aesthetic, serving as a constant reminder of my commitment to this approach. To bring my creations to life, I predominantly use fluid matte acrylics, inks, and Japanese brush pens.

While I hold a B.A. degree from the University of New Mexico, my focus is solely on enhancing my art career. I specialize in portraiture and realism, but I am constantly seeking new ways to learn and grow. Currently, I am studying traditional Japanese woodblock prints and tattoos, and experimenting with digital mediums to adapt to the evolving artistic landscape. Each day, I practice, learn, and create art that is both meaningful and beautiful.
